The 14th Match of the Hundred ball tournament kicked off between the Southern Brave and Oval Invincibles. The Oval Invincibles won the toss and opted to bowl. The Venue for the game was the Kennington Oval. The Southern Brave were put in to bat by the Oval Invincibles Quinton De Kock and James Vince did not hang around for long. Quinton was dismissed for just 8 runs by Reece Topley. James Vince’s horror show at the Hundred continued after he scored only 15 runs off 22 balls which contained only 1 boundary.
Alex Davies did not last long as well because he was bowled by Reece Topley before he could even get his eye in. The Australian duo of Marcus Stoinis and Tim David scored some runs but it was not going to be enough. Stoinis scored 37 runs from 27 balls which comprised of 2 fours and 2 sixes. The New kid on the block Tim David scored 22 runs off 17 balls which consisted of 3 fours. None of the other batters could hang around.
The Oval Invincibles put in a good collective effort with the ball. Reece Topley picked up 3 wickets for 24 runs in his 20 balls bowled. Sam Curran and Mohammed Hasnain picked up a wicket each and conceded 28 runs and 27 runs respectively in their spells. In the end, the Southern Brave could score only 137 runs for the fall of 6 wickets in their 100 balls.
The Oval Invincibles had an easy-going chase in the second innings due to the wonderful foundation which was laid by Phil Jacks. He scored a superb ton of 48 balls which consisted of 10 fours and 8 sixes. The others had just had to spend some time in the middle and do the finishing touches. Sam Curran, Rossouw, and Sam Billings chipped in to finish the job.
George Garton the left-arm pacer and James fuller were the only 2 successful bowlers who picked up a wicket each in their respective spells. In the end, a commanding win was registered by Oval Invincibles who scored 142-3 in just 82 balls and registered a dominant performance.
