Stephen Fleming gives big update on MS Dhoni’s injury after CSK vs RR game in IPL 2023
RR beat CSK by three runs in a closely fought clash.

The match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings handed yet another last-ball finish. This was MS Dhoni’s 200th game as skipper for CSK. But sadly, he could not give the fairytale finish to the Chepauk crowd. CSK needed 5 to win off the last ball but Sandeep Shama dished out a well-executed yorker. This helped Rajasthan win the game by 3 runs.
When Dhoni came to the crease, CSK needed 73 off 35 balls. What followed was a great exhibition of hitting from MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja to stretch it to the last over. But he couldn’t normally run as he was nursing a knee injury. This was revealed by Stephen Flemming after the match. “He is nursing a knee injury, which you can see in some of his movements, which is hindering him somewhat. But still what you saw today is a great player for us. His fitness has always been very professional,” Flemming told the press.

In the 18th over, Ravindra Jadeja clipped one of his pads off Adam Zampa and set off with the intent to run two. But MS Dhoni made it to the crease with great difficulty and decided against the second run. This was due to the knee injury he had. MS Dhoni has been in good form with the bat and has looked like a million dollars with those amazing biceps but things have not been great for him in terms of fitness. His availability has been in doubt for all IPL games so far.
It was a great night at the Chepauk as hometown boy Ravichandran Ashwin turned the game around for RR with his bowling. The lanky off-spinner picked up 2-25 in his four overs. RR held back their spinners to use in the middle overs and this put the brakes on CSK in terms of run-scoring. It is not easy to beat CSK at home but RR did it. It was so near yet so far for CSK.
Jos Buttler was among the runs yet again as he scored 52 off 36 balls with one four and three sixes. Ashwin and Shimron Hetmyer scored valuable 30s and gave the finishing touch to the RR innings. CSK’s batting was good in patches and this cost them the match. Ultimately it was yet another cliffhanger for all cricket fans worldwide.
