The discussion regarding the team vs. individuals seems to be an evergreen topic for discussing the dynamics of cricket. Gautam Gambhir, known for giving his opinions irrespective of the outcome, has again commented about the obsession with individuals rather than teams. The former World Cup winner talked about how the media is more obsessed with the individuals than the team.

Speaking about the same in an interview, Gambhir said, “We have not credited Yuvraj enough for the 2011 World Cup. Even Zaheer Khan, Suresh Raina, and Munaf Patel are not credited. Sachin was the highest run scorer, but do we talk about that? Media keeps talking about that one MS Dhoni’s six. You are obsessed with individuals; you have forgotten the team.”

The former Indian cricketer felt that the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Suresh Raina, Sachin Tendulkar, and Munaf Patel are not credited enough for their contributions to the Indian team in the 2011 ODI World Cup. The former Indian batter further criticized the media for highlighting the winning shot from MS Dhoni in the final of the tournament.
