In an era where coaches at high levels believe in data and use laptops to store it, Ashish Nehra still believes in conventional methods. During his stint as the head coach of the Gujarat team in the Indian T20 League 2022, his methods were the talk of the town. A lot of memes were made when Nehra carried a white paper that went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, a few months after the incident, the 2011 World Cup winner opened up about the incident. The former left-arm pacer clarified that it was nothing but the practice session menu written on the white paper. He wondered how fans believe that there was something extremely important written on the paper.

“There was nothing on the paper. I don’t know why everyone believes there was something important on the paper. Paper pe sirf menu tha ki practice pe hamaara menu kya hoga (It only had menu for our practice session),” Nehra hilariously said when asked about the paper during a chat on Cricbuzz.

Talking about the team, they went on to win the title in the inaugural season. They beat Rajasthan in the final in front of their home crowd in Ahmedabad. The Blue Brigade wasn’t one of the title contenders before the tournament.

I am no super coach: Ashish Nehra

The 43-year-old added that he isn’t a super coach but any other spectator on the outside. The Delhi player further added that coaches put in hard work and get the desired results on some occasions. He further added that his first year with the Ahmedabad-based was good and the team is happy.

“I’m no super coach. Just like you, I was also a spectator sitting outside. When the team wins, you talk about all these things. All coaches put on a lot of hard work and sometimes , you get the results of that. Our first year at Gujarat Titans was really good and we are happy,” Nehra added.
