The Rajasthan Royals hosted the Delhi Capitals in the 11th match of the Indian T20 League 2023 at Guwahati’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium. The inaugural champions led from the start and dominated the proceedings. In the end, they defeated Delhi by 57 runs, handing them their third consecutive loss of the season.

Delhi skipper David Warner won the toss and went with the obvious choice to bowl first. However, an excellent start from Yashasvi Jaiswal with the bat set the tone for the things to come for Rajasthan. He hit five boundaries in the very first over of the game. Along with Jos Buttler, he was in no mood to waste time.

The opening pair dominated the powerplay and added 68 runs in the powerplay. Jaiswal raced to his half-century but could not hold on for long, being dismissed by Mukesh Kumar after scoring 60 runs in 31 balls, 11 boundaries, and one six.

Buttler, on the other hand, remained composed and scored a half-century. After that, Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag were cheaply dismissed, causing Rajasthan’s scoring rate to slow down. After Buttler (79 runs in 51 balls) gave away his wicket to Kumar, Shimron Hetmyer (39 runs in 21 balls) played a blinder to help his team to a total of 199/4 in the first innings.

Trent Boult sets the stage on fire for Rajasthan Royals

Trent Boult delivered a maiden first over and took two wickets for the Royals in the second innings. With a brilliant delivery, he sent back impact player Prithvi Shaw and trapped Manish Pandey LBW on the next ball.

While Warner anchored the innings, he failed to get the much-needed support from his teammates on the other end. He did build a partnership of 64 runs with Lalit Yadav (38 runs in 24 balls) for the 4th wicket, but that was not enough for the Men in Red and Blue.

The DC captain played some good shots and scored a half-century, but the RR bowlers were too good for his team. In the 17th over, Rajasthan thought they had him, but a waist-high no-ball saved him. In the end, he was finally dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal after scoring 65 runs in 55 balls as DC was restricted to a score of 142/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
