David Warner leads the Delhi Capitals this year in the Indian Premier League. His side have not had a great start to the season. They have lost two in two games. Warner himself has been up and down with regard to his batting form. DC will face Rajasthan Royals in their third game. Warner’s team will look to snap their streak against RR.
Warner spent a long part of his IPL career with Sunrisers Hyderabad. His love for Telugu movies and songs is very well known. Warner took Instagram by storm during the lockdown with the dance reels he did on Telugu songs with his family. He wished Allu Arjun on his birthday and did the iconic step from the film Pushpa. Warner led Hyderabad to their maiden title in the IPL in 2016. Warner has been one of the greats in the IPL. He is also one of the leading run scorers in the tournament.
DC lost their first game to the Lucknow Super Giants by 50 runs. The batting lineup was blown away by Mark Wood who picked up a five-wicket haul. In their second game against Gujarat Titans, they were kept to 163. GT won the fixture by 6 wickets. DC’s overseas players have been carrying the burden of the franchise. But the Indian players from DC have failed to come to the party.
The franchise suffered a short blow as Mitchell Marsh will miss the IPL due to his wedding. But his loss could be a blessing in disguise for DC. They could bring in someone like Rowman Powell to shore up the batting. The West Indian had a good season for DC in 2022. DC will hope to get their act together and prevent a string of losses. Their Indian core with the ball has failed so far.
The likes of Chetan Sakaria, Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar have not done enough with the ball. The batting has a big hole in the middle order due to Rishabh Pant’s absence. Ricky Ponting will hope that the tide will turn for his side going forward in the IPL.
