ODI World Cup 2023: Shubman Gill set to link up with Team India ahead of Pakistan Game

The Indian Cricket Team and its fans have got a huge shot in the arm ahead of the game against Pakistan. Star opener Shubman Gill is set to travel to Ahmedabad ahead of the huge game on Saturday. It is unclear if Gill will make it to the playing XI against Pakistan for the ODI World Cup 2023 game on Saturday.

The young Indian batting star will depart from Chennai on Wednesday and will go to Ahmedabad. Shubman Gill has missed the first two games of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia and Afghanistan.

Ishan Kishan opened against Australia in Chennai and is set to reprise the role in New Delhi on Wednesday. Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid though will hope for a swift return by Gill for the huge games ahead.

Shubman Gill set to touchdown in Ahmedabad –

There is massive good news for the Indian Cricket Fans as Shubman Gillis set to reach Ahmedabad. The 24-year-old was suffering from dengue and is slowly on the mend. The youngster has been under constant supervision of the Indian Cricket Board’s medical team.

As per a source from the Indian Cricket Board who spoke to PTI “Gill is doing fine and is set to leave Chennai for Ahmedabad today”. There is a massive question mark on Gill’s participation in the Pakistan game on Saturday.

Elaborating further on the chances of Gill’s inclusion in the Playing XI, the Indian Cricket Board source didn’t sound hopeful. “It is still not clear whether Gill will have a light training session at Motera on Thursday. His recovery has been fine but can’t be sure if he can play against Pakistan”

During the 2023 ODI calendar, Shubman Gill has been one of the leading scorers with 1230 runs. The right-handed-batter has hit five centuries and an equal amount of half-centuries with an average of 72. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has seen Gill bat and put up some huge scores during the IPL for his Gujarat side.

It is said that Shubman Gill could be back in contention for a spot in the playing XI for the game against Bangladesh. India is set to play the Shakib AL Hasan-led side on the 19^th of October. This will be India’s fourth match of ODI World Cup 2023 and the fans will hope Gill makes it back in time.
