The Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings squared off against each other in the 59th match of IPL 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The coin went the way off DC and they chose to bowl first. It was an innings of two halves for PBKS. Shikhar Dhwan made just 7 off 5 balls with one four. Liam Livingstone was sent up to number three and the move did not pay off.  He fell after making just four off five balls with one four.

Jitesh Sharma also could not do much at number four as he departed for a run a ball five. With three early blows, PBKS were stuttering at 45-3. Amidst all that, PBKS opener Prabhsimran Singh was batting beautifully at the other end. He started slowly and took his time to get his eye in. But, once he got the pace of the pitch, he accelerated very carefully and kept the scoreboard moving.

Prabhsimran Singh ascored the fifth hundred in the 2023 Indian Premier League

He batted magnificently and scored a superb 103 off 65 balls with 10 fours and two sixes. This was his first ton in the IPL. It was also the fifth IPL hundred, overall. The right-hander did brilliantly but was always running out of partners at the other end.

Sam Curran, Harpreet Brar and Shahrukh Khan could not get a sizable contribution with the bat. As a result, PBKS could not get the finish that they needed. Sikandar Raza hit an unbeaten 11 off 7 balls with one six. PBKS ended with 167-7 in their 20 overs.

In the second innings, David Warner and Phil Salt got DC off to a fast start. Salt made 21 off 17 balls with three fours before he was castled by Brar. While Warner was going hammer and tongs at one end, Rahul Chahar dismissed Mitchell Marsh leg-before. Rilee Rossouw was Brar’s second scalp. The Brar then removed the dangerous Warner for 54 off 27 balls with 10 fours and one six.

DC had their backs to the wall at 86-4 after nine overs. Rahul Chahar then picked up Axar Patel leg-before to make matters worse for the hosts. Brar then bowled Manish Pandey and DC suddenly pressed the panic button.

Nathan Ellis dismissed Aman Hakim Khan for 16 off 18 with one four and one six. Praveen Dubey was next to fall with the score of 123. The match went on and DC could only get to 136-8 and PBKS won by 31 runs.
