India lost the ODI World Cup 2023 final to Australia by 6 wickets

It has been nearly a week since the ODI World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia was played. The Australians won their 6th ODI World Cup title after beating India in the finals by six wickets. Star player Ravichandran Ashwin has now made a massive disclosure about his chat with a former Australian player during the ODI World Cup final.

Ravichandran Ashwin was part of the Indian squad as a late replacement for the injured Axar Patel. The 37-year-old played just one game during the tournament that too versus Australia in Chennai picking 1/28 from his ten overs.

The Indian veteran spinner was speaking on his YouTube channel and lauded Australia for their planning. The off-spinner will next be seen playing for India during the tour of South Africa in a few weeks.

“Totally Deceived Me” Ashwin laments on Australia’s meticulous planning

Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin seemed puzzled and complimented the planning of the Australian team. The 37-year-old was seen speaking on his YouTube Channel where he had spoken to former Australian skipper George Bailey.

The Indian spinner said “Australia totally deceived me personally, I was checking whether the pitch was disintegrating at mid-innings and I met George Bailey. I asked him why didn’t you guys bat first like you always do”

The answer from George Bailey caught Ashwin by surprise though “He answered back, ‘We have played IPL & Bilateral series here a lot – red soil disintegrates but not black soil & it gets better under lights – no impact on dew on red soil but black soil has good turn in the afternoon & then it will be concrete in the night.’ I was flabbergasted after that”

The Indian team was bowled out for 240 from their 50 overs thanks to half-centuries by KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. Australia were reduced to 47/3 but Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne then added 192 runs for the 4th wicket to win the game for their side.

Ashwin also complimented the captaincy style of Pat Cummins and the way he had made plans for each batter. Pat Cummins and most of the Australian side are back home in Australia basking in the glory of their latest win. India and Australia will play a five-match T20 series which begins on Thursday in Visakhapatnam.
