‘Gambhir seedhi baat karta hai’ – Fans react as Ravichandran Ashwin gives big statement on former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir is known for his outspoken nature. Often the former Indian cricketer has been criticized for some of his bizarre statements in the past. While it is good to express one’s opinions, Gambhir has often gone overboard with respect to his opinions. At the same time, there are people who disregard Gambhir’s contributions to the Indian team due to his outspoken nature.

Fans of some of the popular cricketers do not like Gambhir, as he often gives statements that are not likeable. But then, Gambhir also points out some of the issues which need genuine attention from the cricket fraternity. In that regard, Gambhir remains straightforward sticks to his opinions and does not hold himself thinking of the consequences. At times, Gambhir directly challenges the system.

Gambhir as a batter was very good in his playing days. Some of the best spinners in the world like Muttiah Muralitharan regarded him as a good player of spin. Gambhir scored 75 against Pakistan in the 2007 T20 World Cup final, which India won in Johannesburg. Gambhir also scored 97 in the final of the 2011 ODI World Cup against Sri Lanka in Mumbai. Gambhir scored a lot of runs in the Commonwealth Bank series in 2008.

‘People give him much lesser credit than he deserves’ – Ravichandran Ashwin

Speaking about Gambhir on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin claimed that Gambhir is one of the most misunderstood cricketers in India. “Gautam Gambhir is the most misunderstood cricketer in India. He’s the greatest team man. People give him much lesser credit than he deserves, he was a selfless individual always thinking about the team,” said Ashwin about Gambhir.

Ashwin said that Gambhir is a team man and does not get enough credit for his contributions to India. Ashwin further claimed Gambhir to be a selfless cricketer. Ashwin played a lot of cricket with Gambhir in the early 2010s. Ashwin shared the dressing room with Gambhir in the 2011 ODI World Cup, which took place in India. Both the cricketers contributed well to India in the tournament. Gambhir happened to score 50 against Australia in the quarterfinal.
