West Indies won the third T20I against Australia by 37 runs in Optus Stadium, in Perth. Andre Russel scored 71 runs from 29 balls and Sherfane Rutherford scored 67 runs from 40 balls helping West Indies to set a target of 220 runs.

While coming to bat first West Indies struggled from the start as they lost 3 wickets in almost 3 overs as the score was 17 runs. West Indies captain Rovman Powell and Roston Chase stood up and put a partnership of 57 runs for the fourth wicket.

But as they both were getting settled Australia gave them a shock as they were reduced to 79 runs for 5 wickets. As Rutherford and Russell came to bat, they put on a solid partnership of 139 runs as West Indies put a total of 220 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Earlier when Russell came on strike a short ball bowled by Spencer Johnson hit Russell’s hand and helmet.

Australia got a solid start while chasing the target

Andre Rusell hit 28 runs in Adam Zampa’s last over. While chasing the target of 220 runs Australia got a solid start as openers started to hit big shots from the first ball. The first wicket partnership was of 68 runs as Mitchell Marsh scored 17 runs while most runs came from David Warner’s bat. David Warner scored 81 runs from 49 balls. While there was no support other end the run rate kept on increasing. Before getting out to Rostan Chase David Warner scored 81 runs from 49 balls as he smashed 3 sixes and 9 fours.

Later Tim David tried to come up for the chase but he again got no support from the other end. He remained unbeaten on score of 41 runs from 19 balls. Rostan Chase came up with a brilliant bowling performance as he gave only 19 runs and took 2 wickets. Australia failed to chase the target of 220 runs as they managed to score only 183 runs and lost 5 wickets before the overs ended.
