The second test between Australia and the West Indies is underway at the Gabba in Brisbane. However, the match got off to unusual scenes as COVID-positive Cameron Green stood at a distance from his teammates during the national anthem against the West Indies. The fans and cricket fraternity were in shock after the 24-year-old cricketer got a nod in a Test match despite being COVID-19 positive ahead of the game.

Following that, a video went viral where Australia’s star bowler Josh Hazlewood jokingly asked his teammate Cameron Green to step away from celebrations after the star all-rounder tried to join him and his teammates to celebrate West Indies opening batter Kraigg Brathwaite’s wicket on Day 1 of the second Test match. The video has been widely shared on social media, and Josh Hazlewood’s act has been admired by fans.

“Cameron Green and Andrew McDonald will be separated from the group until they return a negative test. It will not hinder Green taking part in or McDonald attending the match in line with CA protocols,” Cricket Australia said in a statement, as quoted by Sydney Morning Herald ahead of the Test match.

Australia aims to win the second Test match against the West Indies

Meanwhile, speaking about the game here, the West Indies skipper won the toss and invited Australia to bowl first in the game. However, after being opted to bat first, they had an awful start, as they lost five wickets in just the second session of Day 1 of the second Test match. The West Indies have already lost the first Test match, and they will be looking to win the second to level up the series.

However, Australia is currently enjoying being at the top of the WTC 2023–205 cycle after a clean sweep over Pakistan by 3-0 in the recently concluded three matches of the Test series. Pat Cummins and Co. will be looking to win the second Test as well to whitewash the series against the West Indies and continue their position at the top of the table.
