The India vs England series is getting really interesting with the Indians needing 74 runs at the end of the first session. Due to the great knock by Dhruv Jurel in the first innings, the England lead was decreased to just 46. The England batters couldn’t do much in the second innings as they were bowled out for 145 in the end. The Indians ended up being unbeaten on day 3. The 4th day however has been in the balance with India managing 78 runs, but still lost three big wickets as well.
Through this game, we have seen some great performances by the Indian players. The debutants Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel and Akash Deep have announced themselves well in international cricket. However, there have been some players who have not been able to capitalise on this opportunity. The pressure of playing your first Test series for India can sometimes get to you during crucial times.

Another failure for Patidar
Rajat Patidar is one of those players, who has still not lived up to his potential. The 30-year-old batter, who has surprised us in the Indian Premier League(IPL) has had a lacklustre series so far. Patidar has so far scored only 46 runs in the series in the 2 games he has played. The second innings of the Test match was a chance for the talented batter to play a great knock. Unfortunately, he ruined that opportunity as he got out for a duck. This can cause problems for him going forward in the series.
This is a sad moment since Patidar is a talented player. He had got his opportunity after giving some great performances in the practice games. However, with an average of 11.5 in the series, it looks unlikely that he might get an opportunity in the final Test as well. He had promised us a lot after his performance in the IPL two years ago. Patidar will have to earn his place back in the squad if he gets a chance in the upcoming Test as well. We will have to wait and watch for him to play his best cricket in the future.
