Since scoring his maiden hundred for Bangalore in the Indian T20 League 2022, Rajat Patidar has become a household name in Indian Cricket. He recently made headlines after helping Madhya Pradesh clinch their maiden title in Ranji Trophy 2021-22.

Turning up for Madhya Pradesh, Rajat Patidar smashed a match-winning century for his team in the second innings. After Mumbai had scored 374 runs in the first innings, Rajat Patidar arrived at the crease at 269 for 2. Upon his arrival, fans at the stadium erupted with chants of ‘RCB’ ‘RCB’.

He went to play a sensational knock of 122 runs in 219 balls, including 20 fours. His knock helped the team reach a mammoth score of 536 runs in the second innings. Thereafter, Mumbai were bowled out for 269 runs in the third innings and set a target of 108 runs for Madhya Pradesh to win the title.

In pursuit of the target, Madhya Pradesh had lost 2 wickets for 54 runs. However, Rajat Patidar then arrived at the crease and held firm at one end. He took little risk and stayed right till the end. Along with skipper, Aditya Shrivastava, Rajat Patidar guided Madhya Pradesh home in 29. 5 overs with 6 wickets in hand. Madhya Pradesh won the game by 6 wickets and Rajat Patidar remained unbeaten on 30 off 37 balls.

On the fifth ball of the 29th over, Rajat Patidar cuts Sarfaraz Khan at cover-point region for a single and the MP  players gathered around the field. Upon hitting the winning shot, fans started chanting RCB, RCB after Madhya Pradesh beat Mumbai by six wickets to seal their first Ranji Trophy title on Sunday.

“WHAT.A.WIN! Madhya Pradesh beat Mumbai by 6 wickets & clinch their maiden #RanjiTrophy title,” BCCI captioned the video.

Rajat Patidar finished the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer with 658 runs to his name in 6 matches at an average of 82.25 and a strike rate of 53.15.
