India suffered a humiliating defeat against England in the second semi-final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 on Wednesday. England steam-rolled India with a comprehensive 10-wicket win with four overs to spare. Following India’s embarrassing loss, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took to Twitter and took a brutal dig at the Indian team while revealing the finalists of the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

After India lost to England, Pakistan’s PM took to Twitter and wrote, “So, this Sunday, it’s: 152/0 vs 170/0 #T20WorldCup.” The first figure in the tweet signifies the total Pakistan chased against India in the 2021 20-20 World Cup without losing any wickets. While the second figure is what England chased against India in the second semi-final on Saturday. These were the only two matches which India lost in the history of the 20-20 World Cup by 10 wickets.

On Saturday, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan responded to the tweet by Pakistan PM and replied, “Aap mein or hum mein fark yehi hai. Hum apni khushi se khush or aap dusre ke taklif se. Is liye khud ke mulk ko behtar karne pe dhyan nahi hai (This is the difference between you and us. We are happy with ourselves, you look for happiness when others are in trouble. That is why you are not concentrating on your country’s well-being).”

Here is the Twitter thread:

Earlier in the day, Pakistan captain Babar Azam was also asked about the tweet by his country’s PM, during his pre-match press conference ahead of the final in Melbourne. The reporter asked whether such social media posts tend to put more pressure on the team.

Babar replied saying, “There is no pressure as such. But sorry to say, I didn’t see this tweet so I have no knowledge of it. But yes we just try to give our best against the opposition.”

England and Pakistan will lock horns in the final of the 20-20 World Cup on Sunday at the MCG. Both teams will be looking for their second title having won the World Cup once before. England won the 20-20 World Cup in 2010 while Pakistan won the 20-20 World Cup in 2009.
