Mohammad Rizwan, a Pakistani batter, got an odd start to his Asia Cup campaign when he was run out during the play against Nepal on Wednesday. Rizwan tried what appeared to be a straightforward single in the 24th over of the game, but fielder Dipendra Singh hit the wickets with a direct throw. Rizwan did not ground his bat as he approached the crease, giving the impression that he was dodging the throw that eventually shut the stumps. He was run out because he was far from the crease.

Ashwin reacting to this on Twitter said that “The height of the throw made it harder to evade for Rizwan but for someone who generally dives to make his ground all the time while running between the wickets, this is a rare instance of him ducking for cover and the only reason is that he isn’t wearing his helmet. He loves sweeping against spin and no helmet makes it even more bizarre”.

Fans responded sarcastically on social media, urging players not to set any records and raising concerns about their health and the players’ timing of the game. They expressed their anger at him for failing to perform against such teams and for starting his campaign in this way.
