The Indian Cricket Board has stated a strong message to Indian players to prioritise the Ranji Trophy before they go to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
This ultimatum came after some players were not playing domestic cricket, including Ishan Kishan who is reportedly missing matches of Ranji Trophy. He seems to be doing training for IPL with Hardik Pandya.
“In the next few days, all the players will be communicated to by the Indian Cricket Board to play for their state team in the Ranji Trophy, as long as they are not on national duty, with only those who are unfit and recovering at the NCA being granted an exemption,” a source in the know was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
It was stated that the directive applies to some established players of the Indian cricket team and no player is excluded from participating in the domestic tournament.
It seems that Ishan Kishan is training with Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pand ya along with Krunal Pandya in Baroda. Before IPL starts players should represent their state team in the Ranji Trophy.
Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan made himself unavailable to play for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy. Several former players have noticed this situation including Irfan Pathan. He also expressed his thoughts on the situation. As the Indian Cricket Board have sent a notice regarding the situation time will only tell how the players would react to it.
The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to start soon. The players are getting ready to play the T20 after the IPL 2024 T20 World Cup is going to happen in June. In the meantime, the Indian Cricket Board is not happy with the players as they have already started to get into the IPL mode from January itself. They should be focusing on Ranji games and national duties.
