The Indian contingent has taken the 2023 Asian Games by storm. For the first time in the history of the event, India is set to finish with 100+ medals. This is the best showing by the Indian contingent in Asian Games history.

The athletes have been showing great drive and determination to get the country laurels. It has been visible during the entire duration of the Asian Games which is set to end on Sunday.  India may not be in the top three medal winners it has filled up hope for the next event in 2026.

Asian Games 2022 began on 23rd September and is set to conclude on the 8th of October. The Indians have so far won 91 medals with 21 gold medals. The tally is further boosted by 33 silver medals and 37 bronze medals.

India on the cusp of 100 medals –

The Indian contingent has won 91 medals and is on the cusp of reaching the magical 100 mark. This is the first time the Indian athletes which achieved such a feat in their history. On Friday the Kabbadi Men’s and Women’s teams reached the final.

The Indian men swatted away the Pakistani team with a 61-14 margin. Pawan Kumar Sherwat and Naveen Kumar were the heroes of Team India. The two completely had the Pakistani defence in a tizzy with their lightning-quick raids. The team will face either Taiwan or Iran in the final.

There was another medal for India in the badminton event. World number 7, HS Prannoy went down to local Chinese shuttler in the semi-finals. Prannoy now is assured of a bronze medal. The Indian badminton team also had their presence in the doubles event with Chirag Shetty and Ranki Reddy.

Hockey will also feature prominently with the Indian men’s team set to take on Japan in the final. Team India had beaten South Korea by a 5-3 margin in the semi-finals to make it to the gold medal game.

Ruturaj Gaikwad saw his team beat Bangladesh by 9 wickets in a one-sided encounter. Bangladesh were all out for just 96 which the Indian team chased down with ease. Tilak Varma became the youngest Indian to score a T20I half-century for India. The finals will see India take on Afghanistan who beat Pakistan in the second semi-final on Friday.
