Suryakumar Yadav dethrones Mohammad Rizwan to climb to the top of T20I Batters Rankings

India are having a great campaign in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 so far having won two out of their first three fixtures. Star batters Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav have been top performers with the bat for India. While Kohli scored brilliant half-centuries against Pakistan and Netherlands, Suryakumar Yadav scored back-to-back fifties against Netherlands and South Africa. Courtesy of his stupendous form with the bat throughout the year, Suryakumar has now climbed to the number 1 spot in the T20I batters rankings.
SKY surpassed the likes of Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan in the latest T20I batter rankings to grab the top spot with 863 rating points. The right-handed batter reached the coveted spot following his back-to-back half-centuries.
Suryakumar has been a roll ever since he made his international debut in March last year against England. He began his career in some style hooking a speedy bouncer by Jofra Archer for a massive six. The 32-year-old dethroned Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan who has now come down to the second position with 842 ratings. He has already registered eight half-centuries and one century in the current year. He has also amassed the most number of runs i.e 935 in the T20I format this year.
Earlier this year in July, SKY became only the fifth Indian batter to score a hundred in T20Is. He also surpassed Virat Kohli to become the highest run-scorer for India in T20IS in a calendar year.
Meanwhile, there is plenty of movement on the latest list for T20I bowlers too, with Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga closing in to claim the top ranking from wrist spinner Rashid Khan. The star Lankan spinner is currently the top wicket-taker of the showpiece event with 13 scalps to his credit. He has climbed four spots to reach second place on the latest list for bowlers.
Rashid remains on top of the rankings list with a total of 700 rating points, but Hasaranga (697), Tabraiz Shamsi (694), and Josh Hazlewood (692) are all within striking distance.
