‘He never told anyone he was sick’ – Fans laud Virat Kohli after Anushka Sharma reveals he played through sickness while scoring his 28th Test Hundred

Virat Kohli hogged the headlines again after a tough phase in Test cricket as he brought up his 28th Test century on Sunday. This 28th Test hundred came after a gap of 41 innings in Tests. Kohli has scored 16 international hundreds against Australia. Kohli has not had a good run of form in the white flannels for India.

Kohli’s hundred came after a whopping 1205 days. Kohli last scored a Test hundred in 2019 in November. The Delhi batter made it count and scored a fabulous 186 off 364 balls after he got to the century. After the right-handed batter got to his century, his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma shared a story on Instagram and captioned it,

” Playing through sickness with this composure, inspiring me always.”

Shubman Gill led India’s reply with a magnificient 128 off 235 balls at Ahemedabad

India scored 571 in their first innings. The hosts got off to a great start, courtesy Shubman Gill’s magnificent 128 off 235 balls with 12 fours and one six.  Rohit Sharma scored 35 off 58 balls, including three fours and one six. Cheteshwar Pujara also made a handy contribution, scoring 42 off 121 balls with three fours.

On Day 4, Virat Kohli was assisted by KS Bharat, who played an eye catching 44 off 88 balls with two fours and three sixes. Axar Patel, on the other hand, amassed 79 off 113 balls with five fours and four sixes.

His innings gave the momentum to India in the second innings. This was a valliant batting effort by India. They were without the services of Shreyas Iyer, who was out due to back pain.

In the first innings at Ahmedabad, Usman Khawaja constructed a beautiful Test innings. The left-handed-batter scored a sublime 180 off 422 balls with 21 fours. Khawaja was supported by Cameron Green, who scored his maiden Test century. The all-rounder scored a sensational, knock of 114 off 170 balls, including 14 fours.

The top bowlers for Australia in oppressive and hot conditions were Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy, both of whom picked up three wickets each.
