‘He called me and…’ – Shams Mulani on his excitement playing for Mumbai alongside Jasprit Bumrah

Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian batter, will go down as one of the best to have played for India in the shortest format of the game. As things stand, the Indian youngster Shams Mulani, who has played with the right-handed batter in the domestic circuit, expressed his joy in representing the Mumbai franchise for the first time. 

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Mulani claimed that 2 minutes after he was roped in by the Mumbai franchise, Suryakumar called him and wished will well ahead of the 2023 edition of the Indian T20 League with Mumbai aiming to turn things around from the previous edition. 

With the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Jhye Richardson, and Jofra Archer already in the squad, the 2022 mini-auction proved to be one of the best for the Mumbai camp, giving much-needed hope for fans after the 2022 horror.

Saying that it would mean a lot to him to play at the Wankhede stadium, in Mumbai, Mulani claimed that he wanted to become one of the best cricketer and said that it is an open and added motivation to play in front of the home crowd in the such classic tournament. Further, Indian star added that he knows the nature of the pitch there and could be unstoppable on his day. 

“Just two minutes after me being sold to MI, Surya Bhai called me up, and congratulated me. He has seen my journey as he was there in the team ever since my debut for Mumbai and he is like an elder brother to me, always guiding me. He has called me on dinners to discuss cricket and has always been a huge support,” Mulani was quoted as saying to Sportskeeds. 

“It is an added motivation to play for Mumbai in front of the home crowd. I have played quite a few games at the Wankhede and I know how the pitch plays. So I will try and use it to my advantage and perform to the level that my team expects me too,” Mulani was quoted as saying further.
