Tilak Varma has made people take notice of him after his exploits in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left-hander has scored 740 runs in 25 IPL games at an average of 38.94. He has the highest score of 84. The Andhra lad has also earned a call-up for the 5-match T20I series against West Indies. Many fans have batted for Varma’s inclusion in the shortest format as he brings a difference to the side being a left-hander who will play in the middle order.
On another note, Tilak Varma’s father revealed ahead of the T20Is against West Indies on Rohit Sharma and his wife Ritika Sajdeh’s visit to their house and also how Ritika’s sweet gesture had warmed the family’s hearts. “Rohit Sharma and Ritika visited our house earlier. Ritika was sitting on the floor. I asked her to sit on the bench, but she said if I sit on the bench, it’ll be your house. If I sit on the floor, it’ll be our house. They both were very kind,” Varma’s father said.
India won the first Test in Dominica by an innings and 141 runs against West Indies
Team India have gotten off to a strong start in the West Indies, they won the first Test comprehensively by an innings and 141 runs. The Men in Blue have taken a 1-0 lead. India and West Indies are playing the second Test in Trinidad where The Men in Maroon are 229-5. They are still trailing by 209 runs after three days of play. India in their first innings made 438. With the pitch being very slow and flat, it will be hard for India to dismiss the West Indies batters.
Coming back to the T20I series, they have the young guns on the side who could don the blue jersey. The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mukesh Kumar and Varma himself will want to capitalize if the opportunity is presented. The T20Is will be played in West Indies and USA. Three games will be held in the Caribbean and the last two will be held in the USA. The Hardik Pandya-led side will want to do well in the 5-match T20I series.
