On December 10, Saturday, Morocco and Portugal competed against each other in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022 hosted by Qatar and it was the former who took the lead in the first half, much to the stupefaction of the football fans.
The Moroccan team reached the quarter-finals post toiling hard in the group stage and in the Round of 16, given that they had a bleak chance before the start of the multinational tournament. Portugal, on the other hand, sailed through easily and made a strong statement in the ongoing event.
As things stand, as far as the first half is concerned, it was Youssef En-Nesyri who scored the first goal and put the Moroccan team on the front foot. It remained to be seen if Portugal could make a comeback in the game, given that their chances of making it to the semi-finals looked higher than that of Morocco.

As for the second half is concerned, both teams started off in a confident way and at the 60-minute mark, the scoreline remained unchanged in Morocco’s favour as they were leading 1-0. With every passing minute, fans opined that the match could go either way and feared that it might be the end of Portugal in the ongoing epic tournament.
Portugal were struggling to come up with their best and failed to bank on their strengths on a crucial day. 70 minutes into the game, the Moroccan side were stealing away the win from the opponents and the Portuguese fans were losing their hopes as the match inched closer to the 90-minute mark. However, many feared that Portugal might crash out of the tournament as they stared at a defeat even at the 80-minute mark as their players failed to match the lead while the game raced towards the second-half whistle. After fighting hard for 90 minutes, Morocco clinched the game with a scoreline of 1-0 and made it through to the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
