The 27th Match of the Caribbean Premier League took place at providence stadium in Guyana, played between the St Lucia Kings and the Guyana Amazon Warriors. The St Lucia Kings won the toss and chose to bat. Skipper Faf Du Plessis led from the front and toyed with the Guyana Amazon Warriors bowlers. He scored a superb 103 off just 59 balls with 10 fours and 6 sixes, which put the St Lucia kings on course for a big total.

He was helped by contributions from Niroshan Dickwella, who scored 36 from 32 deliveries, with 5 boundaries in all. Then, David Wiese and Roston Chase used the long handle towards the end by scoring 12 and 17, respectively, with 2 boundaries and 3 sixes hit between them in total. This allowed the St Lucia Kings to put up a mammoth score of 194-5 on the board. Shakib Al Hasan and Romario Sheperd were the picks of the bowlers for the Guyana Amazon Warriors as they picked 3 wickets in total from their respective spells.

In the second innings, Rahamanullah Gurbaz and Chandrapaul Hemraj got the Guyana Amazon Warriors off to a wonderful start, scoring 52 from 26 balls, with 7 boundaries and 2 sixes, and 29 from 20 balls, with 5 boundaries. They had an 81-run partnership at the top.

Shai Hope continued his wonderful form in CPL and scored a wonderful half-century from 30 balls, with 2 fours and 5 maximums. Though Shakib got out to Mark Deyal for a duck, the finishing touches were quite easily done by Shimron Hetmyer and Romario Sheperd, who scored 36 from 28 balls, with 2 fours and a six, and 10 from 11 balls, with one boundary.

In the end, Faf Du Plessis’ century went in vain as the batting might of the Guyana Amazon Warriors was too much for the St Lucia Kings, who were found wanting with a poor bowling display on show. Mark Deyal was the only shining star for St Lucia as he picked up 2 wickets for 32 in his four-over spell.
