Indian cricketers were seen supporting the Indian hockey players during the match against Japan in the Asian Games 2023. It was the final of the event between India and Japan. The Indian cricketers finished the match earlier this day against Bangladesh and won it to enter the final of the event. Following that, Indian cricketers supported the hockey players in the final against Japan.
Indian cricket team defeated Bangladesh pretty comfortably in the semifinal. Batting first, Bangladesh could not post a good total against India. The captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad was good, as he rotated the spinners well. Every bowler in the Indian attack bowled well. Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube were good with the new ball. In the middle overs, India bowled brilliantly and blocked the run flow.
R Sai Kishore was exceptional with the ball, who claimed 3 wickets and remained economical. Washington Sundar claimed 2 wickets and bowled an economical spell. Tilak Varma, Ravi Bishnoi, and Shahbaz Ahmed were brilliant as well and claimed a wicket each. As a result, India restricted Bangladesh to a total of just 96 runs, which was not challenging for the Indian team.

Chasing the target, India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal early. But the second-wicket partnership between Tilak Varma and Ruturaj Gaikwad sealed the match for India with 64 balls to spare. Following the win, the Indian players supported the Hockey players against Japan. The likes of Tilak Varma, Shahbaz Ahmed, Arshdeep Singh, and other cricketers were seen in the stadium along with the fans of Japan and India.
The Indian hockey team performed extremely well in the tournament. In the group stage, India totally dominated the teams like Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and Singapore. The semifinal against South Korea saw India register a 5-3 win and qualify for the final. In the big final, India again put a stellar performance against Japan and clinched the gold medal. Going into the Asian Games 2023, India was the favourite to win the gold medal. They lived up to the expectations of the fans.
