Chennai Super Kings were on point in their last game against the Delhi Capitals. They put on a wonderful show with the bat. Ruturaj Gaikwad made 79 off 50 balls with three fours and seven sixes. It was a stroke-filled inning full of intent and grace. The right-hand- left-hand combination worked well and gave CSK a superb start. Devon Conway was in his element as he scored a breathtaking 87 off 52 balls with 11 fours and three sixes.
The Yellove Army scored 223-3 batting first. DC were put under pressure straight away. They could only muster 146-9 in their 20 overs as CSK won by 77 runs to get into the playoffs for the 12th time in IPL history. After the game Gaikwad and Conway had a fun conversation about MS Dhoni, it went like this- Conway said “We are lucky to have Mahi Bhai in the group, hopefully, this is not his last season”. Ruturaj said, “He is playing 5 more years (smiles)”. Conway said, “Yes, he has got at least 5 more years, his knees are good”.

It looks like MS Dhoni might play another couple of seasons in the IPL. This is what he conveyed in his conversation to Suresh Raina. Initially, it was believed the IPL 2023 will be MS Dhoni’s last season. But the talks of retirement have not been confirmed to Stephen Fleming and Co as off yet. MS Dhoni has led CSK to four IPL titles and he has taken them to the playoffs 12 times. With CSK in the IPL 2023 playoffs, he will be looking to get a fifth title for CSK.
Conway and Gaikwad are third and seventh in the Orange Cap race. They have the opportunity to add some more runs to their tally come the playoffs. Conway has amassed 585 runs in 14 matches at an average of 53.18. Gaikwad has scored 504 runs in 14 matches at an average of 42.00. The opening partnership has flourished and been a big positive for CSK right through the season.
