‘Future in safe hands’ – Fans react to Titas Sadhu’s performance in Asian Games 2023 final versus Sri Lanka

Monday was the day when the Indian women’s cricket team wrote their names in history. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team won the gold medal in Asian Games 2023. The Indian team beat Sri Lanka in the final by 19 runs in a memorable encounter.
The star of the show with the ball was young pace bowler Titas Sadhu. The 18-year-old picked 3 wickets for 6 runs from her four overs. Sadhu’s spell included a maiden over from her four overs.
This was the first time India had sent its cricket team to be part of the Asian Games. The men’s tournament begins in a few days. Ruturaj Gaikwad is set to lead the team in a bid to win yet another gold for India.

Titas Sadhu breaks the back of Sri Lankan batting
Sri Lanka were set a target of 117 runs to win. The Indian team had battled their way to 116/7 from their 20 overs. The first over bowled by Deepti Sharma saw two boundaries being hit. Indian skipper got the young pace bowler into the attack. Titas Sadhu was bowling the 3rd over after Pooja Vastrakar had bowled a tight 2nd over. Anushka Sanjeewani went for a huge hit only to be caught by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. Three balls later it was the wicket of Vishmi Gunaratne who was out bowled for a duck.
The Sri Lankan score was suddenly reading 13/2. The pressure was on the shoulders of the Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu. Titas Sadhu then got the decisive scalp when she had the opposition skipper caught by Deepti Sharma. Athapaththu could only score 12 runs off 12 balls with a four and six in her knock. From 13 for no loss Sri Lanka was rocked to 14/3 thanks to Titas Sadhu. The Sri Lankan team was suddenly feeling the pressure against the tight Indian bowling.
From that moment there was no looking back for the Indian team as the spinners took over. When the last ball was bowled the Indian team all converged and congratulated each other. Titas Sadhu stole the show and the moment as she single-handedly bowled India to the gold medal.
