India set to have a full-fledged coaching set-up for the Asian Games. VVS Laxman the head of the National Cricket Academy will be India’s head coach for the Asian Games. Laxman will take charge of the Indian side along with Hrishikesh Kanitkar who has been involved with coaching the Indian Women’s setup. The games will be held in Hangzhou China from September 23 to October 8. Laxman is overseeing a high-performance camp that features the Indian emerging players.

The camp is taking place at the Alur Cricket Ground in Bengaluru. Along with Laxaman and Kanithkar, former India lef-spinner Sairaj Bahutule will take charge as bowling coach and Munish Bali will be the fielding coach. The side will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. Rinku Singh is also a part of the side. Apart from Kanitkar, Rajib Dutta (bowling coach) and Subhadeep Ghosh (fielding coach) will be the other members of the support staff for the womenโ€™s side.

Team India will play in the Asia Cup hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka

Kanithkar had hit last assignment with the Indian Women’s team at the T20 World Cup in South Africa. As far as the Women’s team is concerned the position of head coach has to be filled in since Kanitkar left the post. When it comes to the Indian Team, their next big assignment is the Asia Cup. The continental tournament will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka with the help of a hybrid model. Four games will be hosted in Pakistan and the remaining nine will be held in Sri Lanka.

The Asia Cup squad was announced. The big omission was Yuzvendra Chahal. Unlike other teams, the Men in Blue will not have travelling to do as all of their games will be held in Sri Lanka. India beat West Indies 2-1 in the last ODI series that they played. With the 2023 World Cup being held at home in India, The Rohit Sharma-led side will want to recreate history as India did in 2011. The Men in Blue went through a training camp in Alur ahead of the Asia Cup.
