‘From Mahi maar raha hai to Dhoni finishes off in style’ -Fans react as MS Dhoni turns 42

The legendary Indian captain, MS Dhoni turned 42 on Friday. The man with the midas touch has been a devoted servant of Indian Cricket over a long period of time.  MS Dhoni over the years carved a niche for himself and became one of the greatest middle-order batters that India has produced. He played many gritty knocks for India and finished games for the national side from precarious positions over the years.

When it comes to ODI’s MS Dhoni with ice in his veins was cool when it came to chasing a target on the field. He would take the game deep and put the pressure on the bowler to ultimately win the battle for his side. In the 50-over format, he played 350 games and he amassed 10773 runs at an average of 50.57 and a strike rate of 87.56. MS Dhoni struck 10 centuries and 73 fifties in ODIs. MS Dhoni earned the moniker of ‘Captain Cool in the cricketing circuit for his wonderful decision-making under pressure.

In 2007, he led a young Indian side to a T20 World Cup win in South Africa. Then four years later, he helped India lift the ODI World Cup at home in front of a boisterous Mumbai crowd. India lifted the World Cup after 28 years since their first in 1983. Under MS Dhoni’s leadership, India made it to the Number 1 position in the Test rankings. MS Dhoni led the men in blue and continued to be a force to reckon with at home.

MS Dhoni was also known for weaving his magic with spinners and making people like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja become a valuable part of the Indian Team. He then completed the famous triple in 2013 when he won the Champions Trophy in England. The right-handed batter also became a household name at the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008.

Chennai and MS Dhoni were able to form a bond that could not be broken. MS Dhoni led CSK to five IPL titles so far. He made CSK into one of the most consistent teams in the tournament. The Yellow Army have made it to the playoffs of the IPL 12 times. MS Dhoni will remain a vital part of CSK forever and will be the heartbeat of India for eternity.
