Team India has moved one step closer to reaching the ODI World Cup 2023 Semi-Final on Sunday, New Zealand and India had won four games each heading into the game in Dharamshala. Virat Kohli’s 104-ball 95 runs were the difference as India won the game to move top of the table.

Rohit Sharma called the coin toss correctly and inserted New Zealand into bat first. The Kiwis went into the game with an unchanged side. India had made two changes with Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav coming into the team.

With this win, India now has moved to the top place in the table with 10 points. New Zealand now will occupy the second place with 8 points. The next game for India is against England in Lucknow on the 29th of October.

India clinches an easy win to top the table–

Chasing 274 to win their 5th game of the tournament, India got an electric start thanks to Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. The pair added 71 runs from just 67 balls with Rohit Sharma scoring 46.

That stand was broken when Lockie Ferguson bowled Rohit Sharma out for 46 and soon got Gill out for 26. With the openers gone the pressure was on Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. That’s when Iyer began to ease into the game and scored 33 runs in quick time before becoming the first wicket for Boult.

KL Rahul then joined Virat Kohli as the pair started to bring India back into the game. The Kiwis though stuck around to get two Indian wickets in quick time. KL Rahul was the first to go out LBW to Santner for 27, and Suryakumar Yadav was then run out for 2.

Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli then added 78 runs for the 6th wicket in what was a match-winning stand for India. Kohli was looking set for another before he mistimed a pull shot and was out for 95 runs from 104 balls. Jadeja was not out on 39 off 44 balls with 3 fours and a six to help India win the game by 4 wickets.

Earlier New Zealand posted 273 on the board thanks to Daryl Mitchell’s 5th ODI century. The 32-year-old scored 130 as he was supported well by Rachin Ravindra who scored 75. Mohammed Shami picked his third fifer to end with 5/54 from his ten overs.
