The FIFA World Cup 2022 kicked off on November 20 between Qatar and Ecuador and the hosts crashed out of the tournament due to their poor run. With France and Argentina all set to take on each other in the summit clash on December 18, Sunday and on Saturday, Morocco and Croatia faced off against each other in the third-place play-off. Fans awaited the winner of the clash and much to the delight of the Croatian spectators, their star player Joško Gvardiol in the 7th minute.
However, the joy did not last for more than 2 minutes as the Moroccan player Achraf Dari matched the lead in the 9th minute and made a stunning comeback in the game. At the 36-minute mark, the scoreline remained unchanged at 1-1 and it remained to be seen if either of the teams would make a comeback in the second half, while many opined that it was a Himalayan ask for both teams, given defence looked pretty strong for each side. However. right at the stroke of the first-half whistle, Croatia’s Mislav Oršić produced the lead and the first half ended with a scoreline of 2-1.

As far as the second half is concerned, Morocco were thriving and banking on their strengths to make a comeback and match the lead in the initial minutes. On the other hand, the Croatian camp kept creating opportunities with the hope to double the lead and inching closer to the win, although it looked like the game would slip away from their hands at any moment.
It looked like the Croatian team were inching closer to the win at the 60-minute mark as Morocco were struggling to match the lead, much to the dreariness of their fans. It was Croatia who won the game with a scoreline of 2-1 after 90 minutes of continuous action, eventually finishing third in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022. The team would look to carry on with the momentum and make a sensational comeback in the next edition of the multinational event.
