The FIFA World Cup 2022 hosted by Qatar is fast approaching the quarter-finals and the fans are awaiting the summit clash to decide the winner of the world’s biggest sporting event. Eventually, it was Portugal and Switzerland who locked horns in the final Round of 16 match of the FIFA World Cup 2022. It turned out to be a great outing for both teams, as one had laughter while the other had a lesson to take home from the game.

To add more, it was Portugal who had the last laugh as they managed to inch closer to a win post scoring 2 goals in the first 45 minutes. It was Gonçalo Ramos who scored the lead for the Portuguese team in the 17th minute, backed by his teammate Pepe in the 33rd minute. It was a complete display of dominance, courage, grit and perseverance from Portugal, who benched the legendary player Cristiano Ronaldo for the game.

Eventually, Ramos, who opened the lead for the Portuguese team, managed to triple the lead by scoring a brace in the 51st minute, much to the delight of the fans. It was a heartbreaking phase of play for Switzerland as they failed to capitalize on the opportunities and make a comeback in the game. Nonetheless, it would be a proud moment for the team as they gave it their all until the knockouts of the game and eventually lost it against heavyweights Portugal.

The second 45 minutes turned out to be an eventful one as Portugal managed to bag yet another goal in the 55th minute on the back of a stupendous effort from Raphaël Guerreiro. Eventually, Switzerland managed to open their account in the 58th minute, courtesy of an athletic effort from their star player Manuel Akanji.

One has to agree that both teams put on a great fight in the second half and it just did not go right for the Rossocrociati camp. Ramos, who was brimming with confidence right throughout the match, eventually bagged a hatrrickt post scoring a goal in the 67th minute. Eventually, it was Portugal who won the game with a scoreline of 6-1 on the back of a last-minute goal from Rafael Leão and cemented their berth in the quarter-finals.
