‘Delhi ke liye disadvantage hoga’- Fans react as David Warner formally appointed as captain of Delhi for ITL 2023

David Warner has officially been appointed as captain of the Delhi side for the Indian T20 League 2023. Rishabh Pant is still recovering from injuries he sustained due to a car accident he met in December 2022. Warner will lead the side in Pant’s absence for this season. Warner has previously led the Hyderabad franchise in the Indian T20 League.
He took Hyderabad to a title in 2016 where they beat Bangalore in a high scoring final by 8 runs. Warner scored 848 runs at an average of 60.57 and a strike rate of 151.42. He scored nine fifties and had the highest score of 93 in that season. Warner was a great leader at Hyderabad, who gave a lot of freedom to his bowlers. Mustafizur Rehman, Ashish Nehra, Siddharth Kaul and Bhuvneshwar Kumar formed a potent bowling attack for Hyderabad under Warner.
Warner has scored 1867 runs for Delhi in the Indian T20 League
Warner has been no stranger to Delhi as he started his Indian T20 League career with the side. The southpaw scored 1867 runs in 67 matches for the franchise. The Australian has an average of 31.64 and a strike rate of 136.77. Warner scored 15 fifties and two hundreds. He has been one of the greats in the Indian T20 League and his legacy will be remembered forever.
The left-hander has scored 5881 runs at a strike rate of 140.69 and at an average of 42. He has scored 55 fifties and four hundreds in the Indian T20 League. Warner has been a fan-favourite in Hyderabad because of the Instagram and tick-tocks reels on Telugu songs and movies. He did the same last year in Delhi and recently made an impression of ‘Pathaan,’ the Shah Rukh Khan starrer which went viral.
Warner will hope to guide Delhi to their maiden title. Delhi had their best season in 2008 when they made it to the semifinals of the Indian T20 League but lost to Rajasthan by a whopping 105 runs. Axar Patel is the vice-captain of the side.
