The debate over the biggest point guard in NBA history has taken a new turn. Former NBA superstar Michael Jordan is the latest to weigh in on this debate. It’s worth noting that the debate started after Stephen Curry claimed that he was the best point guard in NBA history.
His comments created a buzz among fans as some called him arrogant, while others backed him. Meanwhile, star ESPN journalist Stephen A. Smith also backed Curry and claimed that he was the best. However, on Wednesday morning, Smith said that legendary basketball player Michael Jordan texted him to disagree with his choice. He revealed that Jordan picked his best point guard and disagreed with him.
On his first take Wednesday morning, Smith read Jordan’s text and revealed his pick. “Although the greatest of anything is always a debate, I beg to differ on the greatest point guard of all time… Magic Johnson is easily the best point guard of all time. Steph Curry is very close, but not in front of Magic,” Jordan said, as per Smith.

Further explaining his choice, Jordan asked Smith to explain the meaning of point guard to have a serious debate. He said, “You must define ‘point guard’ to have a serious debate. Steph Curry is by far the best shooter of all time, but Magic Johnson invented the triple-double. Not true invented, but makes it more noticeable in terms of the impact on the game. It’s a point guard stat, to be honest. Magic was the best. By the way, Magic has five NBA championships.”
