Texas Super Kings locked horns with MI New York in the seventh match of the Major League Cricket 2023 on Tuesday, July 18. Super Kings (TSK) won the match by 17 runs at the Grand Prairie Stadium, in Dallas. Star New Zealand opener, Devon Conway was awarded the Player of the Match award for his brilliant match-winning performance with the bat.
“It was a slight challenge up front, felt like that the ball was not coming on in the powerplay. Myself and Faf decided to take our time and then set a platform for later on. We have a blueprint on how to go about things. The wind was going down-breeze and the plan was to hit with that. The crowd was great,” Conway was quoted as saying at the post-match presentation.
Daniel Sams and Mohammad Mohsin guided TSK to victory
TSK skipper, Faf Du Plessis grabbed a magnificent catch to dismiss MI New York batter, Tim David. The 39-year-old was exceptional on the field throughout the game. His effort stunned Daniel Sams who was bowling at that moment.
If we talk about the game, Super Kings, while batting first, scored 154 runs for the loss of seven wickets after the first innings. The highest scorer for the side was Conway, who scored 74 runs off 55 balls with eight fours and a six included in his innings. The pick of the bowler for the New York side was Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada who snapped two wickets each in their respective spells of four overs where they conceded 29 runs and 30 runs respectively.
While chasing 155 runs, the MI side was able to score only 137 runs with the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. The highest scorer for the side was their opener Shayan Jahangir who scored 41 runs from 38 balls which included five fours in his innings. The pick of the bowlers for Texas were Daniel Sams and Mohammad Mohsin who grabbed two wickets each in their respective spells of four overs where they conceded 15 runs and 36 runs respectively.
