‘Congratulations’ – Fans react as India beat Bangladesh by 31 runs to win ACC Women’s Emerging Team’s Asia Cup

The ACC Women’s Emerging Team’s Asia Cup final took place between India and Bangladesh at the Mong Kok Stadium in Hong Kong. Due to non-inclement weather, a full 20 over game was staged. India Women won the toss and chose to bat. India got off to a steady start from the openers. Shweta Sherawat made 13 off 20 balls with two fours. U Chetry made 22 off 20 balls with two fours and one six.

Nahida Akter and Rabeya Khan claimed Shweta and Chetry respectively. Then Gonagadi Trisha also went early. India were in a spot of bother at 70-3, they found a solid number three in Dinesh Vrinda who made 36 off 29 balls with five fours and one six. This calmed the nerves of the Indian dressing room. At the other end, India lost three more quick wickets in the form of Soumya Tiwari, Shreyanka Patil and Kashwee Gautam.

India scored 127 runs in their 20 overs 

Kanika Ahuja kept the runs flowing at the other end and made a valuable unbeaten 30 off 23 balls with four fours. She had support from Titas Sadhu who chipped in with an unbeaten 8 off 6 balls and one four. India made their way to 127-7 in their 20 overs. Akter was Bangladesh’s best bowler as she took 2-13 in her four overs. Sutana Khatun also picked up two scalps in her four overs.

In the second innings, Bangladesh did not get off to the best of starts as they lost Dilara Akter early. But Shanti Rani along with Sobhana Mostary tried to steady the ship for their side. But Rani was caught and bowled by Mannat Kashyap and Mostary was caught by Patil of Ahuja. From this point on Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals and India kept a check on the run rate and did not allow them to get free.

Patil picked up four wicket haul and conceded just 13 runs in her four-over burst. Kashyap also scalped 3-20 in his four overs. Bangladesh were all out for 96 runs in their 20 overs. India won the summit clash by 31 runs. The young talent of India showed their might in the multilateral tournament and came out victorious.
