Pakistan A women and Nepal A women locked horns against each other in the ACC Women’s Emerging Team’s Cup. Nepal won the toss and chose to bowl. The Pakistan batters did not have a great time as they could muster only 87 runs in 19.2 overs. Shawaal Zulfiqar was Pakistan’s best batter as she made 28 off 36 balls with one four. The second-best contribution came from Fatima Sana. She made 16 off 23 balls with one four.
The Nepal bowlers were all over the Pakistan batters. Indu Barna picked up three wickets and was the pick of the bowlers. She received good support from the others. Kabita Kunavar, Kabita Joshi, and Sita Rana Nagar picked up two wickets from their respective spells. In the first innings, a funny incident happened where two Pakistan batters were stranded on the same end and the run-out was executed. Pakistan, over the years, has had many comical moments with regard to runouts across formats.
Pakistan ended up with a nervy win over Nepal by nine runs
In the second innings, It became a low-scoring thriller as Pakistan bowlers put pressure on the Nepalese batters and did not allow them to break free. Kunawar made 20 off 32 balls with two fours for Nepal at the top of the order. The second best was Joshi who made 15 off 17 balls with one four.
In the end, Nepal was kept down to 78-6 in their 20 overs as Pakistan earned a close win by 9 runs. The games so far have been closely fought in what has been a very open tournament. The multilateral tournament has had some great bowling performances on the show so far.
In the second match, which happened on 13 June, India steamrolled Hong Kong courtesy of a five-wicket haul from Karnataka sensation Shreyanka Patil. Hong Kong could only end up making 34 in 14 overs. When it came to chasing the target, India made light work of it and got the runs in 5.2 overs. Hong Kong is the host venue for the tournament. The tournament features a lot of young players.
