‘Besharam’- Fans can’t stop laughing as Smriti Mandhana says Bangalore has the best ‘fan base’

Bengaluru had earlier brought Mandhana for 3.4 crore INR.

Smriti Mandhana, who was bought by the Bangalore Franchise at the Women’s Indian T20 League auction for a whopping sum of 3.4 crores, made a huge statement in an interview with Indian Tennis ace Sania Mirza, who is the mentor of the Bengaluru side. She said that the Bengaluru side has the most loyal fans in the world and that the fans are the best.

The Bengaluru franchise has a huge fan base and when it comes to men’s cricket, the likes of Chris Gayle, who used to hit balls out of Cubbon Park, and AB de Villiers, who has a massive fan following after what he did with the bat during his time at Bengaluru, now it is the turn of the women. Like Virat Kohli, Mandhana also dons the no 18 Jersey.

Mandhana had been chosen to lead the side by the backroom staff of Bengaluru. Bengaluru, when it comes to the men’s side, have made it to three finals in 2009, 2011 and in 2016. They have had a good record in the Indian T20 league as well, but the franchise have not been able to lay their hands on the Indian T20 league trophy.

The Bengaluru women’s side has a lot of international calibre with the likes of Ellysse Perry, Dane van Nikerk, Sophie Devine, Megan Schutt and also Indian sensations like Renuka Singh and Richa Ghosh. The coaching staff of the side are Ben Sawyer, Vanitha VR, RX Murali, Mike Hesson and Malolan Rajarajan. Bengaluru women will be looking to get the WTL trophy in the inaugural season with the side that they have.

Bengaluru already has a big fan base from the men’s franchise and it only will get stronger with the women franchise coming in. The Smriti Mandhana-led side will hope to break the trophy jinx with the help of some lady luck that might happen and it might be ladies first for Bengaluru. The inaugural WTL season’s games will be held at DY Patil Stadium and at the Brabourne Stadium.
