Ruturaj Gaikwad continued his great touch in Indian T20 League 2023 as he scored his second consecutive half-century of the season in the ongoing match between Chennai and Lucknow at the Chepauk stadium. This time, Gaikwad also got the support of Devon Conway as both the openers laid the foundation for a big total for Chennai.

Batting first, Chennai got a firing start as Gaikwad and Conway partnered with 110 runs in 9.1 overs for the first wicket. Conway looked in good touch after getting out cheaply in the first match against Gujarat. The New Zealand batter got out after scoring 47 runs off 29 balls hitting five fours and two sixes. While Gaikwad went on to score his second-half century of the season. The 26-year-old got out after smashing 57 runs off 31 balls including three fours and four sixes.

It was looking like Gaikwad will finally be able to score his century as he reached his fifty before nine overs. However, he lost his wicket in the first ball of the 10th over trying to take Ravi Bishnoi but ended up giving a catch to Mark Wood. He also missed his century in the first match against Gujarat as he got out after scoring 92 runs. His innings helped Chennai to post a total of 178 runs. However, they lost the match by 5 wickets.
