The 19^th edition of the Asian Games is set to place on September 23 in China. The Asian Games 2023, hosted by China, will feature 40 sports and 61 disciplines, continuing India’s strong participation history with 570 athletes in 36 sports. Organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) since 1982, this multi-sport event promotes sportsmanship and cultural exchange among Asian nations. It’s the 19th edition of this prestigious event, showcasing athletic prowess and camaraderie among representatives from diverse Asian countries.

Teams for the Hangzhou Asian Games, taking place from September 23 to October 8, have been announced for both men’s and women’s cricket competitions. The women’s cricket will run from September 19-28, and the men’s from September 28-October 8, with both using the T20 format. This signifies an exciting development in the upcoming Games, where cricket will be a prominent and highly anticipated part of the sporting events.

Ruturaj Gaikwad to lead Indian team for Asian Games

Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the men’s team, featuring notable talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Varma, and Rinku Singh, among others. Standby players include Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, and Sai Sudharsan. Rinku, who faced questions about his exclusion from the T20 series in the Caribbean, secured his spot.

Dube, Jaiswal, Varma, and Prabhsimran Singh earned their places due to impressive IPL performances. Dube played a pivotal role in CSK’s fifth title win, while Jaiswal made a significant Test debut against the West Indies, scoring a century and becoming only the third Indian to score 150 in their debut match for India.
