The long Indian domestic season starts off with the Duleep Trophy. The premier domestic tournament will serve as a chance for youngsters and experienced pros alike to get a lift to the big stage and knock on the doors of the Indian Cricket Team. One quarterfinal is taking place in Alur, with East Zone taking on Central Zone. Central Zone are 23-0 after winning the toss and opting to bat first at the time of writing.
The second quarterfinal is taking place between North Zone and Northeast Zone at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Northeast zone won the toss and opted to bowl first. North Zone are 19-0 at the time of writing. The winners from these two matches will go up against South Zone and West Zone, respectively. The two zones have earned direct entry into the semi-finals of the Duleep Trophy because they were finalists and champions in the last Duleep Trophy season.
The Indian selectors and management will be keeping a keen eye on the proceedings of the tournament as it looks like Team India will be entering into a transition face sooner or later. Good performances in the Duleep Trophy might act as a springboard to get into the Indian Test side. Among the experienced players, Cheteshwar Pujara will be a big name to watch out for as he was recently dropped out of the West Indies Tests.
Pujara had a poor showing in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. He scored 14 off 25 balls with two fours in the first innings, and in the second innings, he made 27 off 47 balls with five fours. Joining him in the tournament will be Suryakumar Yadav, who was not considered for Test matches after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which took place in March, where India beat Australia 2-1 at home.
Another player to watch out for is Rinku Singh. Rinku has made a lot of heads roll with his exploits in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), but Rinku’s numbers in first-class cricket provide good reading with 442 runs from 7 matches in the 2022 Ranji Trophy season. Taking about his overall first-class statistics, Rinku has made 2875 runs from 50 games with seven tons and 19 half-centuries.
Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter:
Domestic cricket has become useless in India ,standards pretty low compare to aus and Eng ,selection is pure done on IPL performance then what is the use of Ranji Duleep trophies

Such a shame. We have a broadcaster for TNPL but struggling to find one for one of the most important domestic cups in India. @FanCode can you?

Echoes Gavaskar's view that playing domestic cricket is of no use as performances are not given importance or treated seriously by the selectors. Just hope the selectors turn up at the ground to watch the games. Maybe we are asking for too much.

Richest board doesn't care about domestic

All the County teams and many other domestic teams have their own YOUTUBE channels and they broadcast all their first class games.
Can’t BCCI have their own setup and telecast this digitally? It will give due visibility to First class players and fans will be benefited too.— Anoop Singh (@anoopshaashtra) June 27, 2023

What's with bcci ? Is there anything good for the fans? Stampede during collection of tickets, extremely expensive tickets and now this…
Why don't they have their own YouTube channel? Almost every top cricket board has it, maybe there also money is the matter,— Adhyayan Singhal (@Adhyayan_S) June 27, 2023
Where is BCCI's marketing team… Don't tell me that they don't have any marketing team…Where does BCCI invest money if they are not able to find Broadcasters and Sponsors on time and try to dry the pitch by soaking ground water in a sponge.
Mockery of richest board in cricket

Great trick by BCCI to not let us outrage on selections.
