The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) met at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium ready for battle. LSG won the toss and choose to bowl, RCB were hurting from their 81-run loss against KKR as they set out to redeem themselves. Virat Kohli took off like Usain Boult to give the perfect start for RCB. He was running away with the game like the flash. The former RCB skipper made a tantalising 61 off 44 balls with four fours and four sixes.

When Kohli got out with the score on 96, it was all Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. The duo put on superb partnership to take RCB through to 212 in their 20 overs. Du Plessis made a fantastic unbeaten 79 off 46 balls with five fours and five sixes. This was the innings that RCB needed from their skipper, and he delivered.

Marcus Stonis got LSG back into the game with 65 off 30 balls to help the chase it down

Maxwell kept him good company and made a wonderful 59 off 29 balls with three fours and six sixes. He was playing cricket after a long break but reserved his best for the big game. In the second innings Kyle Mayers did not trouble the scorers much as he perished for a three ball duck to Mohammed Siraj. Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya were shown the ball early by a skilful. Wayne Parnell. Just when it was going wrong for LSG. Marcus Stoinis turned the tide.

He scored a rasping 65 off 30 balls with six fours and five sixes. This gave the impetus that LSG needed. Nicholas Pooran then came in changed the game completely for LSG with a blistering 62 off just 19 balls with four fours and seven sixes. This innings put LSG firmly in the hot seat. He received good support from Ayush Badoni. The match looked to be swinging to Lucknow’s side but Siraj got the big wicket of Pooran.

Badoni played a calm hand to help his side get in front. He made 30 off 24 balls with four fours. The match went to the last over and LSG needed five off it. Since RCB were behind the over rate only four fielders were allowed outside the circle. Jaydev Unadkat batted well but holed out in the deep. LSG needed a run off a ball. Avesh Khan hit the winning run off the final ball and Lucknow won by 1 wicket
