Delhi Capitals (DC) Prithvi Shaw did not have the best of starts against Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) in M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, on Saturday. Shaw came on in as an impact substitute for Mustafizur Rehman. He was run out by a well-directed throw from Anuj Rawat who was also brought on as an impact substitute in place of Mahipal Lomror. Shaw was late on the run and Rawat threw the ball with pinpoint accuracy to dismiss Shaw.
The right-hander has been in good form with the bat. But it has been very bad news for Shaw on a fielding and fitness front. Shaw has not been in the best of fitness and his fielding has been poor as well which explains the reason behind DC using him as an impact substitute. Shaw made big runs in domestic cricket including 379 in the Ranji Trophy. The Mumbaikar has not been in the best of form in the last edition of the IPL.

In the 2022 edition, he scored just 283 runs in 10 matches. Before the 2023 IPL began, Ricky Ponting had made a massive remark that the 2023 IPL season will see the best of Shaw. Clearly, that has not happened. The right-handed batter looks out of sorts and needs to get his head in the right place.
DC were very sharp with the ball as Kuldeep Yadav and Mitchell Marsh picked up 2-23 and 2-18 respectively. In their four over and two over spells. RCB had a start-stop innings as Virat Kohli made 50 off 34 balls with six fours and one six. The middle order of RCB did not play well as they lost a cluster of wickets in the middle overs. DC were sharp in the field and took their chances.
Shaw has been on a slippery footing after a video of him surfaced on social media. He had an ugly altercation with social media influencer Sapna Gill.Β Shaw has to push the reset button and make a good regime for fitness so that he can satisfy his aspirations of getting back into the Indian Team.
With Rishabh Pant not available, Delhi Capitals had such high hopes from Prithvi Shaw this season. Such a massive disappointment he has been. Can't beleive Delhi retained him over the likes of Ashwin, Avesh, Hetmeyer,Stoinis, Rabada, Shikhar
