Brook Lopez could make move to Houston Rockets as he is presently a free agent

Brook Lopez is currently 35 years of age.  But he is coming off one of his best seasons at the NBA. Lopez was also in the running for the Defensive Player of the Year award but sadly finished as runner-up. The buzz in the NBA is that Houston Rockets might want to lap up Lopez, as he is a free agent at the moment.

Adrian Wojnarowski, of ESPN, feels that it will not be easy for the Milwaukee Bucks to get Lopez as they might be unable to give a contract according to Lopez’s terms. The Rockets have a lot more leverage and leeway in the matter as they have a cap space of  $60 million. “The Bucks are facing Brook Lopez’s free agency,” Wojnarowski opined. “There’s an expectation that the Houston Rockets, flushed with a lot of salary cap space, are going to be a real threat for Lopez.”

The Rockets have picked up Ameen Thompson in the 2023 NBA draft

The Rockets are entering into a sort of transition phase. They have selected Amen Thompson in the 2023 NBA draft. If the Rockets want to make a turnaround, they must get a string of wins to instil confidence in themselves. They will also want to put out a better record than last season. Ime Udoka has been brought in as the head coach of the side.

With the experience that Lopez will add to the side, the Rockets will get a new dimension and a way of looking at things. Lopez has been in great form in the previous season and has 6.7 rebounds and a career-high 2.5 blocks per game. He even shot a career-best 37.4% with an average of 15.9 points. He might be the magic tonic that the Rockets need as of now.

Lopez is a prize catch for being a defender in the NBA. He can also double up as a stretch centre. If Lopez ends up at the Rockets, it could be a massive bonus for them and could help revitalise the side as they are coming off an underperforming last season. He will balance the Rockets lineup as he can react better in pressure situations.
