Virat Kohli has been in good form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) so far. The former RCB skipper has scored 214 runs in four innings at an average of 71.33. He has scored three half-centuries in the competition so far. The former Indian captain was not in the best headspace when the Asia Cup 2022 took place. Kohli said he wanted to retire from cricket after the Asia Cup 2022 if he had a poor tournament.
He said that he was willing to go and play, he thought that it would be his last month in international cricket. He also said that he was trying to live up to the expectations and the idea of Virat Kohli in people’s heads. He said he was going through the motions and was mentally prepared for it. But in the end, things did not transpire that way. Kohli also said that during this testing phase, he leant on his wife Anushka Sharma for support.

“Anushka’s conversations with me have always been priceless, she tells me the truth & straight forward, if I would have left myself in that phase (Before Asia Cup), I would have become an egoistic maniac – she brings me to base level for a normal guy”. Kohli said in an interview to Robin Uthappa on Jio Cinema. Kohli scored his maiden T20I century against Afghanistan and then the tide turned for the former Indian skipper.
After the Asia Cup, the 20-20 World Cup came on and Kohli showed the world what he was made of. He was the best batter for the Men in Blue for the tournament. In Australia, he scored 296 runs in six matches with a strike rate of 98.66. He had an average of 136.40. Kohli scored four half centuries in the 20-20 World Cup which includes an unbeaten 82 against Pakistan that happened in India’s first game against their archrivals.
Kohli also scored his 28th Test ton against Australia at the Ahmedabad Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. When it comes to ODI cricket he has a highest score of 183. He recently made it to an elite list which featured the top 5 run getters in ODI cricket. Kohli has scored 46 hundreds in ODIs. He also has scored 12898 runs in the 50-over format.
