After crushing Bangladesh in the first Test by 188 runs, the Indian team led by KL Rahul competed against the Bangla Tigers in the second Test that kicked off on December 22, Thursday and were set a target of 145 for the win. To add more to the match, it was Bangladesh who batted first, only to be bowled out for 227. 

As far as the first innings is concerned, it was Mominul Haque who stood up for the team with his well-made 84 and for India, Ravichandran Ashwin, Umesh Yadav and Jaydev Unadkat stood up for the team with their stupendous bowling. To add more, while Ashwin and Yadav picked up four-fors, Unadkat, on the other hand, picked up a two-for and put India on the front foot. 

Much to the delight of the Indian fans, Rishabh Pant’s 93 and Shreyas Iyer’s 87 guided India past the trail mark and helped the team take a decent lead, as they were wrapped up for 314 runs in their first innings, putting India well ahead of the Bangla Tigers in the game.

As far as the second innings is concerned, the Bangla Tigers were bowled out for 231 runs, setting the Indian team a target of 145, which seemed gettable until Mehidy Hasan proved his prowess with his impressive five-for, taking the win away from India almost. To add more, towards the end of Day 3, it was the off-break bowler who rattled the Indian top order. 

Removing Gill and Pujara for 7 and 6 runs respectively, the spin bowler put the Indian team in deep trouble. Eventually, with his five-for, Mehidy restricted India to 74/7 early on Day 4, inching the Bangladeshi team closer to the win. Much to the delight of the Indian fans, Iyer and Ashwin put on a 71-run stand for the 8th wicket and pulled off the win for the team, with Ashwin unbeaten 42 and Iyer at 29.
