Abdul Razzaq celebrates India’s World Cup loss, claims it’s ‘victory for the game’

Razzaq's comments have fetched him a lot of agitated responses.

On Sunday evening in Ahmedabad, India’s dream of lifting the Cricket World Cup on home soil was shattered as Australia emerged victorious in what turned out to be a one-sided final. The Narendra Modi Stadium, once abuzz with anticipation and excitement, fell eerily silent as the Aussies cruised to a six-wicket win, claiming their sixth World Cup title.

India, playing under immense pressure in front of their passionate home crowd, lost the toss and were made to bat first by Pat Cummins. India got off to a rapid start thanks to skipper Rohit Sharma but the continuous fall of wickets meant that their innings failed to reach the crescendo that the nation craved. Despite valiant efforts from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, who scored half-centuries, the Indian middle order faltered, leaving the team with a modest total of 240 runs to defend.

India managed to restrict Australia to 47-3 before Travis Head took centre stage. The left-hander unleashed a blistering century, while Marnus Labuschagne anchored the middle order with a gritty fifty. The Indian bowlers, though spirited, couldn’t find a way to break the Australian partnership. As the runs flowed freely, the hopes of the Indian faithful gradually faded. The final blow came when Glenn Maxwell hit the winning runs, sending a wave of dejection across the stadium.

The defeat left India heartbroken, their dreams of World Cup glory once again dashed. Australia, on the other hand, celebrated their triumph, their status as the undisputed kings of cricket further cemented.

Abdul Razzaq ecstatic after India’s loss

In the aftermath of India’s defeat in the World Cup final, former Pakistani cricketer Abdul Razzaq expressed his elation, stating that India’s loss was a positive development for the sport as a whole.

“Cricket won and India lost! Had India won the World Cup, it would have been a very sad moment for the game. They used conditions to their advantage and I have never seen such a bad pitch for any final before. It’s great for cricket that India lost.”

Abdul Razzaq has been embroiled in several controversies in recent times, including one in which he made derogatory remarks about Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. His insensitive comments drew widespread condemnation, forcing him to issue a public apology.”
