India has done everything wrong in this Asia Cup and is staring down the barrel. Shambolic selection calls, poor captaincy, no proper communication and a frustrated Rohit Sharma have been the highlights of India’s dubious Asia Cup campaign. India is all but out of the tournament.
They would, however, aim to put up a good performance and play for pride, this would help them to end the tournament on a high. The Rohit Sharma-led side would look to give all the players a chance to who have been benched so far. Axar Patel, Deepak Chahar and other people could get a chance in India’s last game.
Afghanistan has been clinical in the group stages and has had dominating wins against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The bowling, led by Rashid Khan, Mujeeeb ur Rahaman and Fazalhaq Farooqui, looks threatening, and they have in-form batters on the side such as Rahamanullah Gurbaz and Najibullah Zadran which makes Afghanistan a very good side.
India will have their hands full against Afghanistan
Ravi Bishnoi – When the wrist spinner got his chance against Pakistan, he proved why he belongs at the international level, picking up 2 wickets. Unfortunately, he was benched for the match against Sri Lanka.
Arshdeep Singh– The left-arm pacer has been expensive with the new ball but has demonstrated tremendous skill under pressure and bowled two outstanding final overs against Pakistan and Sri Lanka to keep India in the game.
KL Rahul – He has had an indifferent run of form in the Asia Cup so far. Rahul has got starts but has not converted them. He would be looking to get a big score and end the tournament on a high.
Rahamanullah Gurbaz– He has been in sensational form in the Asia Cup and will look to continue to pile on the runs. He looked in great touch against Sri Lanka, where he scored 84 runs, and it was a breathtaking knock.
Najibullah Zadran– He has been Afghanistan’s glue in the middle order for quite some time and will look to score more runs as Afghanistan have back-to-back encounters lined up.
Rashid Khan– He has not looked at his menacing best so far in this Asia Cup, he will look to get back amongst wickets and make sure Afghanistan will go all the way to clinch the Asia Cup.
The pitch in Sharjah supports the spinners and it is difficult for the new batsman to score on this wicket, if the batters get their eye in they can score the runs later on.
