After days of speculation, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced their 15-member ODI World Cup squad. The tournament is set to take place in India from October 5 to November 19. After a very poor performance in the Asia Cup 2023, the Pakistan cricket team will look to get back to winning ways.
In the latest squad, injured Naseem Shah has been replaced by all-rounder Hasan Ali. Pacer Haris Rauf has been declared fit for the prestigious event as he makes his way into the squad. Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-Ul-Haq, and skipper Babar Azam will lead the batting department. Rizwan also does the wicketkeeping duty. Allrounder Shadab Khan will be the deputy of Babar. He retained his place in the squad despite a very poor performance in the Asia Cup.
Agha Salman, Mohammad Nawaz, and Mohammed Wasim Junior will be the other all-rounders. The pace department will be led by star left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi. He will be supported by Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, and Usama Mir. It’s worth noting that the squad was announced a day after the review meeting. In the meeting, PCB investigated the reasons behind Pakistan’s poor performance in the Asia Cup 2023.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board has named three travelling reserves for the prestigious tournament. Young spinner Abrar Ahmed, pacer Zaman Khan, and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris have been named as travelling reserves. They will travel to India with the squad and will participate in the tournament if anyone gets injured.
It’s worth noting that Pakistan will reach India by September 25. The team will have a camp in Hyderabad ahead of the warm-up games. They will start their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on October 6. Then Babar and company will face another qualifier team, Sri Lanka, on October 10 at the same venue. In the marquee clash, the team will face arch-rival India on October 14 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

what team is it? Babar Azam has equated friendship with performance. Now everything confirmed that is why Mohammed Hafeez resigned yesterday. Sarfarz Ahmed should be in team with Imad Wasim too. Pakistan's early exit from the World Cup has⦗ Satya Prakash (@Satya_Prakash08) September 22, 2023
