Rohit Sharma has had a torrid Indian Premier League 2023 so far. The Mumbai Indians skipper has made 181 runs from seven innings. He has a poor average of 25.85 and a strike rate of 135.07. The right-handed batter has just scored one half-century this season. MI have not found their straps in IPL 2023 and have been inconsistent. After winning three games on the trot, the five-time IPL champions have lost two on the bounce.
Talking about Rohit Sharma, Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports, “Rohit Sharma should take a break and keep himself ready for the WTC Final. He can come back again for the last few IPL matches, but now take a little bit of a breather himself”. Rohit has not been himself in this year’s IPL edition. He has been out of form over the last two seasons in the tournament. A break will do him good but it remains to be seen whether he will opt for it.”
MI have not been the consistent side that they once were in the IPL. Due to the inexperienced bowling lineup that they have, they have been under pressure. The unavailability of Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah has crippled the bowling. MI’s batting has not fired as well either. The middle order of Cameron Green and Tim David has blown hot and cold so far.
Suryakumar Yadav also has been up and down this season. The Indian guns in the middle order such as Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Hrithik Shokeen and the like have impressed but only in parts. MI’s bowlers are conceding a lot of runs which is putting a lot of pressure on the batters. MI have to pull up their socks and address the woes that ail them and find solutions quickly.
Even in their last game, the Paltan gave away 207 runs in their 20 overs. The batting did not step up to the plate as there was already scoreboard pressure to contend with. After the game against Gujarat Titans, MI have lost four games and won three. They have 6 points and are sitting in seventh place on the points table.

All WTC players should be rested and prepare for test match finale, rather than playing useless IPL and getting themselves injured

This is PR, now everyone from retired ones will ask him to take a break from IPL because he ain't winning matches, they want ppl to forget about his Captaincy and then he'll directly captain in the WTC Finals.
If he won't captain further in IPL then no one will raise an issue.— Days since Kohli scored 100 (@VK100tracker) April 26, 2023
He is already in good touch as a test bats man look at his innings… 1(10) 2(8), 3(12)… Great touch as a test bats man
